PROVERB PRACTICALS

Proverbs 6:34,35,  For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.  He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

Jealousy is that which will energize a man to rage.

Rage is violent anger preceded by furious words, gestures, or agitation.

Rage begins with jealousy and ends with violence.

It is anger excited to fury

Jealousy cannot be thought of without thinking that violence may result.

God is jealous of man’s attention being diverted from him to another and today He has that rage resulting from that jealously in check but that rage is building to a great day of his wrath and his rage will have its day.

Jealously raises its head when there is action observed that the attention of the one we love is being diverted by another.

A rival for his or her attention has entered the picture.

Jealously is that passion of peculiar uneasiness which arises from the fear that a rival may rob us of the affection of the one whom we love; or the suspicion that he has already done it.

There is a song which has the phrase in it: I only have eyes for you.

Job said it in this manner long before that song was written:

Job 31:1,  I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

That covenant is to be made in marriage.

That is what the vows of marriage are about.

Yesterday many of us witnessed Lisa and Keith look into each others eyes and vow that their eyes were to be for each other.

A man’s body including his eyes belong to his wife.

A woman’s body including her eyes belong to her husband.

A man’s eyes are to be fixed on his wife.

A woman’s eyes are to be fixed on her husband.

And if those eyes stray the natural emotion is jealously.

For those eyes are attentive to another.

A rival is drawing those eyes to himself and lacks understanding because jealously is the natural result when this occurs and from jealously, comes rage, and from rage comes vengeance and violence.

therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

Vengeance is mind sayeth the Lord, I will repay but when it comes to unfaithfulness and adultery vengeance easily is assumed by the one scorned.

This means there is no room for compassion or pity when jealously enters the picture and adultery causes jealously to be unleashed.

There is no excuse for not knowing what the sin of adultery will release.

All kinds of violence may occur.

All manner of sin will result.

All manner of demons are released.

For a man or woman to engage in adultery certainly reveals a man or woman without understanding.

You would be better off taking your chances in an electric chair and hoping for an outtage.

For the one who is wronged will:

Proverbs 6:35, ……. He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

There is no restitution for the sin of adultery for it is an act of unfaithfulness.

It cannot be blotted out in this life.

There is no payment or gift that will bring full restoration.

And so the wise father prepares the son by this instruction and the instruction continues in the same regard in Chapter 7.
