PROVERB PRACTICALS

Proverbs 7:16-20,  I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.   I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.   Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.   For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:   He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

She wears the attire of a harlot and has used her seductive looks, she has used her smooth speech, she has used the sensuous touch of her kiss, she now plants the seed in his mind of what she has prepared upon her bed.

Included in her arsenal is a frontal attack on his sense of smell and that attack is designed to push him over the edge.

She uses everything at the disposal of a wicked woman to allure him to her and to her adulterous ways.

Now note this woman’s arsenal for the arsenal of a wicked woman has not changed any in these thousands of years between.

Her harlot like attire, her seductive looks, most likely her use and decoration of her eyes, her smooth speech, the touch of her lips to his, and even the aroma of her perfumed bed are at her full disposal to be used to capture this boy void of understanding.

God has given him five senses and she has made sure that her arsenal includes the use of every one of them, sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste.

This youth void of understanding does not know that her use of these to satisfy her purpose is not of the father but is of the world for that is told us in:

1 John 2:16,  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

These seductions are powerful she knows, but one thing remains which may cause this boy to flee:

What of her husband, he may ask?

Where is he, perhaps he wonders in his mind?

But she allays his fears by quickly pointing out his absence, and not only his absence but the fact that his absence will be clearly a long one because he is to be gone until the day appointed, which is usually taken to mean until the next full moon.

In other words his trip causes him to be so far away that he cannot come home quickly or even be told about what may be taking place in his home.

She has covered every aspect or so it seems, but the boy void of understanding, the boy empty of the principles of the Word of God perhaps does not even know that God has so ordained that their sin will surely find them out.
